“In my Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.” (Jesus speaking in John’s gospel, chapter 14, verse 2)
Last night (July 7), Tony’s Dad took his last earthly breath and peacefully entered into the presence of his Savior Jesus. In September of 1995, both Dad and Mom recognized that they had no real relationship with God. They asked for God’s forgiveness for the wrongs they did and accepted the free gift of salvation and eternity in heaven that’s available only because Jesus took the punishment we all deserve. As a result, the verse above now includes them. Mom has been in her new place for 4 years, and now Dad joins her as well.
In April we were blessed to spend some quality time with Dad in Texas. He was alert and we had some good laughs and I video taped him reflecting on his life – memories that I’ll always cherish. At the end of the interview, I asked him if he had any words of wisdom to pass on. His response was, “You only go around once. Make the best of it.” I believe if he could converse with us now from heaven, he would add this as well…”Wow! It’s so incredibly awesome here! You need to come to Jesus. Choose to follow Him before it’s too late. He’s the only way to get to heaven and He’s waiting for you with open arms.”
Of course we’re sad and will miss Dad, but Jesus’ death on our behalf guarantees that we who trust in Christ will some day join Dad, Mom and other Christ-followers and spend eternity in heaven with them. Thanks for your prayers for us during this time.
